A legislative-informed design rationale for connecting approved authority, configured controls, reviewable evidence and accountable value decisions.

Cetus AI is an Australian-owned, Queensland-based company. Its enterprise AI governance platform provides Songlines for organisations whose AI activity is distributed across an existing technology estate. The product is designed to help customers connect their approved authority, configured controls, source evidence and value decisions across selected workflows—without displacing the customer’s systems, decision rights or responsibilities.

Legislation-informed, customer-configured design

Australian obligations shaped the accountability questions that Songlines is designed to help customers address: what is the approved purpose, who owns the use, which conditions apply, what happened, and what evidence supports review. That design approach does not turn legislation into a universal software rulebook. Customers establish applicability and interpretation, approve policy, configure the selected path and retain responsibility for enforcement and accountable decisions.

Privacy & information handling

For applicable entities and uses, connect customer-approved purpose, information classification, destination and review conditions to a selected workflow. The customer determines the legal basis and information-handling requirements.

Corporate oversight & consumer protection

Connect accountable ownership, approved policy, evidence gaps and review context for material uses and customer-facing actions. The customer remains responsible for governance, representations and service decisions.

Commonwealth public resources & records

For relevant Commonwealth settings, support a reviewable connection between purpose, authority, resource use, records and outcomes. Commonwealth obligations do not apply universally to private, state, territory or local-government entities.

Accountable AI value

Link the approved baseline, full cost, observed outcome, attribution, Finance review and risk treatment behind a portfolio decision. Activity or favourable metrics are not automatically realised value.

A connected accountability pathway

The paper describes an operating sequence in which each transition has an accountable customer owner: establish applicability, approve policy, configure the selected path, preserve source evidence and conduct accountable review.

Establish applicability
Approve policy
Configure controls
Preserve evidence
Review value

One connected Songlines product

Cetus AI is the company and enterprise AI governance platform provider. Songlines is the product. Teams and Control are components; Evidence Fabric is the shared evidence capability; and Value Control is an integrated module, not a separate platform.

Teams supports known use and accountable ownership. Control evaluates customer-approved attributes against configured policy, while the customer’s application, gateway or orchestrator is responsible for enforcement. Evidence Fabric links authorised references and makes missing, unmatched or stale evidence visible. Value Control preserves the evidence basis for an accountable Scale, Optimise, Review or Retire decision.

Important boundary: Legislation informs the product design; legal interpretation, policy approval, customer enforcement and accountability remain with the customer and its qualified advisers. This material is general information, not legal advice, a compliance certification, regulator endorsement, assurance or an automatic ROI outcome. Songlines does not determine whether an Act applies, grant statutory authority, certify a control, prove a legal conclusion or make an accountable decision for the customer.
